There are differences between tent and tensile structure.

Tent fabric is usually supported by steel frame at every certain distance. (Usually not more than 2.5m)

Surface of tent is flat so it is more simple to create pattern and do the fabrication

TENSILE STRUCTURES AND TENTS

Unlike tent, tensile structure has curvature surface, both in concave and convex. When pre-stressed, this 2 opposite curves hold the membrane in to place and make it a very stable structure.

Because of the bi-curvature surface, pattern of tensile structure is more complicate.
